When to Order an AED Battery Replacement

AED batteries don't last forever, and learning when to replace them is a crucial part of being rescue ready in the event of an emergency. Most batteries have three dates included on them:

Manufactured Date: When the battery was made. Some must be used within a certain timeframe of production.
Install-by Date: If your battery has one of these dates, it must be installed no later than the specified time in order to maintain the expected lifespan.
Expiration Date: Once this date arrives, the battery will likely be dead or nearly dead and needs to be replaced.

While many AED models automatically check their battery capacity to ensure they're ready for use, it's best to track these dates manually as well. We also recommend keeping an extra AED battery for your unit on hand at all times.
