The Benefits of Having an AED There are plenty of benefits to having an AED on hand. Cardiac Arrest happens outside the emergency room very often, and if you have an AED on hand, you can increase the chance of survival by more than 90%. If the defibrillation is delayed, survival rate is reduced by around 10%. It’s better to have one than to not have one. An AED checks a person’s heart rhythm and recognize if the person needs a shock depending on the rhythm, and it will advise the responder when a shock is required.

The reasons why you should have one:

  • AEDs will save lives
  • Cardiac Arrest is a leading cause of death
  • Anyone can go into Cardiac Arrest
  • You need to be prepared for an emergency
  • It can happen anywhere at any time

An AED can restore a normal heart rhythm for people who have a sudden cardiac arrest. You’re increasing the chances of survival just by having one next to you in the worst situation. An AED gives the first responder and everyone around the confidence that the victim will survive.
